About Me
Navigating Nonprofit Challenges with Stuart McGoo's Strategic Solutions.
Why I Do What I Do?
Most of the non-profit sector is consumed by waste and staff on the frontline are under so much stress and pressure as a result. Many boards of trustees are made up of people who, while well-meaning, do not have the knowledge or insight into governance and operations that are required for strategising and implementing policies, procedures, systems and services in the non-profit/charitable sector.
My Experience
I began my career working as a volunteer in 2004. Since that time I have had a great deal of experience in the non-profit and charitable sector. I have worked on the frontline, in project management and senior management. I’ve worked supporting boards, funders, stakeholders and beneficiaries.
My Values
I’m driven by my ethics and values - I hold kindness as the most important value to me, but I also strive to be tenacious, fair and just in my professional life. I have an analytical mind and I do not shy away from telling the truth, even if that may be unpalatable for someone to hear. Integrity is very important to me, as is accountability and transparency.
Together, we can make sure that the services to your beneficiaries are maintained and that you move forward in the shifting sands with surety and direction.
My Approach
The way that I approach my work is systematic, calm and patient. Often I find when researching a problem that what is most apparent is not necessarily the reality. There are many occasions, when I dig a little deeper, that I find things that I did not expect. Such things might require a change in course, a change in direction but this is not something that I avoid. In fact I believe these events often lead to better outcomes.
Working with People
One of the things that is extremely important to me is working with people in a positive and constructive way. I believe that no problem is insurmountable and the possibility of success is greatly increased when people come together to share innovative ideas, knowledge and skills. In my work a significant element to the research I do is around having detailed conversations with those in the know. Listening to what people have to say, their experiences and their insights is key in developing strategies that will lead to successful outcomes.
